About MJRC
MJRC was founded in 2012 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nasrudin Md. Akhir when he was the Executive Director of Asia-Europe Institute, UM. In the early days of it's establishment, MJRC had collaborated closely with Asia-Europe Institute, Japan Studies Program (JSP) and Malaysian Association of Japanese Studies (MAJAS) where they often organise activities that are related to Japan together. MJRC was established promote academic exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Malaysia.

To be a reference centre for Malaysia-Japan relations
Mission
To promote research and consultancy that can be shared among instituitons of higher education in Malaysia as well as in Japan.
Objectives of MJRC
- Combine scholars from various fields and expertise in relation to Malaysia and Japan
- Meet and exchange views, thoughts and opinions with Japanese institutions
- Disseminate information on Malaysia-Japan relations
